A referral isn’t a hand-off — it’s a partnership. When your child needs a specialist, we point you to people we trust, send the records ahead, follow up after the visit, and keep the whole picture together. Your pediatrician stays your pediatrician.

Care We Provide
We refer to specialists we know — based on quality of care, communication, and how well they work with kids and families.
We send the relevant chart notes, lab results, and history to the specialist before your visit so they’re ready.
We complete pre-authorization paperwork required by your insurance and handle the back-and-forth so you don’t have to.
We track outgoing referrals. If you can’t get an appointment or run into a barrier, call us — we’ll help.
We review the specialist’s notes, discuss recommendations with you at the next visit, and integrate them into your child’s overall care.

FAQs
It depends on your insurance. HMO plans usually require a pediatrician referral before the specialist visit will be covered. PPO plans often don’t. Check your card or call your insurance — we’ll help with the paperwork either way.
Call us, or send a message through the patient portal. Tell us the specialty, what’s going on, and (if you know) the specialist you’d like to see. We’ll process the referral, send records, and notify you when it’s done.
Routine referrals are typically processed within 1 to 3 business days. Urgent referrals are handled the same day. If you haven’t heard back when expected, call us.
You can request a specific specialist (and we’ll work with that), or we can recommend one based on insurance, location, and what fits your child’s situation. We’ll always be honest about who we’ve had good experiences with.
Insurance denials happen — sometimes for documentation, sometimes for medical necessity. Call us. We can submit additional information, request a peer-to-peer review, or appeal. Don’t take a denial as final until we’ve helped you push back.
Absolutely. Specialists manage their specific piece — your pediatrician keeps the whole picture, handles routine and well care, and coordinates everything. Don’t step back from us when a specialist steps in.
